Paddlers from 20 nations and 4 different continents gathered to compete and celebrate the start of the 2008 world cup in Prague.
On Friday morning 8am three tough Junior Women opened up the competition in cold weather and rain. All of them went directly into the next round and they only will have to fight for the colour of their medal in finals on Sunday.
Next up were the K1 Junior Men showing off in the sticky hole of the whitewater course of Prague. The two flying French boys Maxime and Sebastien, who already had dominated the Europeans in Spain this year, took first and second place in prelims. The ten best out of 27 went straight to semi finals taking place on Saturday afternoon.
Afterwards 77 K1 Men fought over the top 20 ranks to precede into quarter finals. Eric Jackson, Nick Troutman, Peter Csonka and Mathieu Dumoulin, the finalists of the 2007 Worlds, made clear that they are still the ones to beat.
