2024 Paddlers Awards Winners – Adrian Mattern, Male Paddler of the Year
Congratulations to Adrian Mattern for earning the 2024 Paddler of the Year Award, a well-deserved recognition of his outstanding achievements.
Adrian Mattern’s 2024 has been nothing short of remarkable. The year began with more than just paddling—it saw him organising an ambitious mission to paddle the Ivindo Falls in the jungles of Gabon, West Africa. Shortly after, he returned to Brazil for a second time, following up on his initial trip in late 2023 to explore the stunning rivers of Mato Grosso. After the devastating loss of his close friend, Bren Orton, on the river, Adrian found the strength to continue his passion. He embarked on trips to Norway and tackled his home runs in the Alps, embracing big days and challenging rivers. As summer came to a close, Adrian traveled to Pakistan for a descent of the Rondu Gorge, including a solid run of the Malupa. His year ended with the first full descent of the Enguri River in Georgia and a final adventure on the Zambezi. With a year filled with groundbreaking achievements and first descents, Adrian Mattern is undeniably a top contender for Male Paddler of the Year 2024.
With a year packed full of accomplishments and firsts, Adrian Mattern is a clear choice for Male Paddler of the Year 2024.
