Machu Picchu Kayak Fest, Nov. 4/6th Cusco (Peru)

From November 4th to 6th, kayakers from around the world will gather in Santa Teresa to celebrate their love for the river in a new festival created to showcase the pristine rivers of the area.

The  is a three-day long festival in Peru’s most sacred mountain region and features kayaking on some of the most beautiful rivers in the country.

The festival includes multiple races in select categories – down river, boater cross and slalom. Open to kayakers of all levels, these races will highlight the unique waters of the area, events being held at Urubamba River.

Rapids range from Class I to challenging Class V, so kayakers of all abilities are welcome to register and sign up in their respective categories.
Registration is $100 USD and includes two nights of accomodation, river transportation, meals, access to the Colcamayo Hot Springs and entrance to a party with a DJ on Saturday night.

Those travelling to the festival (either alone or with a group of supporters) are invited on a three-day guided rafting trip down the Apurimac River one week prior to the festival. This multi-day adventure holds some of the best rapids in the country and showcases gorgeous views of the Amazon. With rapids ranging from Class II to IV, riverside camping and delicious Peruvian feasts, this trip is one not to be missed.
