Galway Fest 2017 – Ireland
Check out a sweet edit recapping the 2017 edition of the Galway whitewater festival in Ireland. GalwayFest 2017 had the rare Irish mix of sunny weather and high water levels. This year saw over 200 kayakers in 6 categories from Ireland and abroad compete across 5 events. The event started on Friday night with a incredibly engaging talk and video on a recent expedition to the Panjshir river in Afghanistan. Early on Saturday kayakers raced individually and in teams down the Boluisce River with the finish line going straight into the ocean in beautiful Galway Bay. After the infamous GalwayFest Party came Sundays events on the big water River Corrib which flows right through the heart of vibrant Galway City. A freestyle event was complimented by heats of up to 70 paddlers taking part in the Mass Slalom event, it was manic! The big finale was the Boater X event which crowned this years King and Queen of GalwayFest Bren Orton and Aoife Hanrahan. Make this event your priority next year!
