Chasing Old Dreams – The Road to Rio 2016
After taking a two year break from his slalom racing career, Irish paddler Ciarán Heurteau started to dream again. He decided to chase that old dream of his which is to participate at the Olympics in Rio next summer. In order to do so, and to help finance his season he started a crowdfunding project. But this isn’t just another fund raising, Ciarán will be releasing a 12 episode web series that will follow his preparation. He will have guest speakers from the top slalom paddlers to the sports greatest, that will share how they are or were getting ready for the biggest event in their career, the Olympic Games.
Chasing Old Dreams will be a 12 episodes web series that will follow Ciarán Heurteau’s journey as he gets ready for the last Olympic qualifier in May 2016, which will be the European Championships in Liptovsky Mikulas, Slovakia.

Ciarán took a break in 2014 to focus on photography and filmmaking, he took part in several expeditions documenting 1st descents rivers in Mexico and India. After rupturing his ACL last April he went back into slalom, because it was the only sport he could do and enjoy without having to use the leg.
Throughout the episodes there will be many guests, from Olympians to the sports greatest, that will share their story on how they are or were getting ready for the biggest year in their career.
The goal of this project is to not only help Ciarán in his preparation but it’s also to portray Slalom kayaking in a way that has never been seen before so that we can inspire the young generation, get new kids involved in the sport, share some tips and tricks from the greats, and why not get old slalom boaters back on the water, because the love is still there.
Depending on people’s contribution towards the project they can get photo prints, name on generic, 1on1 video/photo tutorial or even a topo duo run with Ciarán himself.
