Enter The Incomappleux
In early Sept. 2013, an 8 person team of paddlers from the BC Interior set out to descend the notoriously dangerous Incomappleux River, south east of Revelstoke, BC. Starting with a grueling 14km bushwhack just to reach the river, the team was then pounded by heavy rains, flash flooding, class 5/6 rapids, and exhausting portages through remarkable old-growth rain-forest during their 55km journey. Regardless of the many challenges encountered, this 6 day expedition proved to be the adventure of a lifetime and certainly wont be forgotten anytime soon. Supported in part by an expedition grant from Mountain Equipment Co-op (MEC), the efforts of this first descent expedition also aim to highlight the need to protect the Incomappleux’s extremely rare and ancient density of inland temperate old-growth rain-forest.
