First Descent of the Middle Perlus, Malaysia (Entry#14 Short Film of the Year Awards 2016)
My movie documents the first descent of the Middle Perlus river in Perak Malaysia. The Perlus is a beautiful grade 3-5 river deep in the heart of the Malaysian jungle. Of the sections paddled the middle sections is the hardest running at grade 5. I lived in Malaysia over a year racking up first descents, but this was by the far the most troublesome. The Perlus is an unforgiving river and it wasn’t until the 4th attempt we managed a descent, other attempt had ended in near misses.
