Glomåga, 2nd Descent – A Northern Norway Adventure

As Norway’s popularity as a whitewater destination has grown over the past fifteen years, so have grown the summer crowds on the southern rivers centered around Voss and Sjoa. In answer to this, a decade ago paddlers began heading north to the runs around Hattfjelldal and Rana, which offered excellent whitewater with few paddlers around. However, as media exposure of the northern regions has increased, so too have the crowds. So what to do? For a small number of international paddlers in July 2014, the answer was obvious: push farther.

Svartisen, the second largest glacier of Norway,  gives birth to the Glomåga river. This  video tells the story of the second descent expedition on this incredible run. It took the team three days and two nights to conquer 30 km of wilderness from the source to the take out. Glomåga, 2nd Descent – A Northern Norway Adventure
