Help Save Eryri’s Iconic Waterfall and Wildlife

https://saveourrivers.org/project/savethecynfal

In 2017, 2019, and 2023, Save Our Rivers led the charge with your support to protect one of the UK’s most breathtaking upland river valleys. Unfortunately, the battle is far from over. A new threat has emerged, and this time, it’s more critical than ever to act.

A developer has recently submitted a planning application to construct a dam on the Afon Cynfal in the heart of Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park. If approved, this scheme could divert up to 70% of the water around Rhaeadr y Cwm, one of Eryri’s most iconic waterfalls, as part of a hydro-electric project. The potential damage to the area’s unique wildlife and natural beauty could be irreversible.

We need your voice. The deadline for objections is fast approaching – 20th September.

Save Our Rivers, the Snowdonia Society, Buglife, and the North Wales Wildlife Trust have united to draft a formal objection to this harmful development. But we need your help to amplify our message. You can submit an objection using our e-action tool, and with enough support, we can protect this irreplaceable natural wonder.

You can find more information on the application at the Snowdonia Society and Save Our Rivers websites.

Together, we can make a difference – before it’s too late.
