Jackson Kayak Paddlers Take Top Spots at the 2014 Green River Narrows Race

November 3, 2014 – Jackson Kayak Paddlers Take Top Spots at the 2014 Green River Narrows Race

Jackson Kayak’s Isaac Levinson and Dane Jackson brought home the top two spots in the coveted “Long Boat Division” at this year’s Green River Narrows Race just outside Ashville, North Carolina.  Jackson team member Nick Troutman also took home the “Short Boat Division” gold for the team as did Alex Voorhees for the “Junior Division”.  This marks the first year for the new, production, Jackson Kayak Karma Unlimited, their new long boat as well as the all new 2015 Zen, both boats bringing home top ranks in their first Green Race.

The Green River Narrows Race is arguably one of the most anticipated whitewater creek race of the year attracting the top paddlers in the world to its shores for one of the most challenging whitewater courses around.  Jackson Kayak team member victories at this annual event cap an unprecedented year for Jackson Kayak in racing, a year that has found Jackson Kayak river racing paddlers occupying top ranks on a regular basis.

“We came close last year in the prototype version of the Karma Unlimited,” states Jackson Kayak president, Eric Jackson.  “It was amazing to see the Karma come to maturity in the hands of Isaac and Dane this past weekend.  We’ve been working very hard on bringing our boat designs to the next level and this year’s Green Race seems to be letting us know we’re doing the right things”.

Like the Karma and the Karma Unlimited, the new 2015 Zen, a shorter, more maneuverable river running kayak, is the brainchild of both the team, lead by Eric Jackson and leading designer David Knight.  The Zen found itself on the top of the hotly contested Short Boat class in this year’s race in the hands of Canadian Nick Troutman.  “To say the Zen was faster than expected was an understatement,” confirmed Nick Troutman.  “When I heard my time I was super happy seeing my short boat run time sitting right smack dab in the midst of long boat times! “
