Middle Kings 2024 – Isaac Hull
Isaac Hull recounts a challenging 4-day descent on the Middle Fork of the Kings River, navigating wildfires, offline gauges, and miles of tough paddling. An unforgettable journey through an incredible canyon.
Trip of a lifetime on the Middle Fork of the Kings River. Logistics were looking pretty iffy leading up to the trip…the takeout area caught fire a week before it looked like it was going to drop in, so the whole takeout area was closed down. I was struggling to find people who wanted to commit to trying to paddle ~20 extra miles past the takeout on top of a 3-4 day full exertion epic. To make matters worse the guage went fully off-line a few days before Convinced Sam Sharp and Gibson Kafsky to rally all the way from Boise and we had a perfect 4 days picking our way down off a lot of boat scouting and a tiny bit of memory from my trip in 2021. No videos will ever do the canyon justice, or the amount of suffering this trip requires. Jah bless!
