Modi Khola Express 2018
Nepal Kayak Club is back with another Express Series that is sure to be the whitewater event of the year in Nepal. On October 25-27, 2018 national and international paddlers will have the chance to battle it out on the Modi Khola, an excellent grade 4/5 river nestled inside Nepal’s famous Annapurna Conservation Area, while enjoying the view of the iconic Mount Macchapucchre.
Participants will compete in Downriver Sprint, Giant Slalom and Boatercross races. The Express Series provides an opportunity for local and international kayakers to paddle it out one last time on the mighty rivers of Nepal that are threatened by large hydropower projects.
Our first two Express Series championships, the Marshyangdi Express 2015 and Bhote Koshi Express 2016, were held on rivers that had proposed dams or dams in the development process. With Modi Khola Express 2017, we held our event just a few kilometres above the new hydropower channel construction.
The journey to Modi Khola provided excellent kayaking and an opportunity to engage with local businessmen, policymakers and law enforcement to show them the beauty of whitewater adventure. For this reason, we are returning to Modi Khola in 2018 with a bigger, badder event.
Come join us for what is sure to be a great event (and an even better after party!)
