The High Water Mark (First High Water Run 10,000+ cfs on the Upper Yough)
John Regan had his hiking boots in the back of his boat. He knew, with the Upper Yough at seven feet, surging and pulsing over rocks instead of around them, he’d spend as much time walking as he would boating that day. With Jeff Snyder, Jess Whittemore, and Roger Zbel, they rode 10,000+ cfs through a gorge that normally holds a tenth the water. And discovered, like earlier boaters pushing the boundaries of the Yough at high water, that surviving the miracle mile is just the beginning.
