The Primary Source « Running The Río Marañón » (Trailer)
The Río Marañón is free flowing from its headwaters in the Cordillera Huayhuash to the confluence with the Río Ucayali where the Río Amazonas proper begins. This makes the Río Marañón a very special place. This is of course important for sediment and nutrient transport to the Amazon, natural flow regimes, and the local ecology.
But above all, it is important for the people who live alongside the river. “The Primary Source” is a documentary film of an extraordinary adventure at risk of being lost. The 39 minute film aims to give the people of the Marañón Valley a voice in the face of more than a dozen hydroelectric dams and highlights the spirit of adventure while navigating one of the most unique and beautiful rivers on Earth.
This film is NOT for profit; it was created simply to help spread AWARENESS. The rental cost will ONLY be used to pay film festival entry fees. Any further proceeds will be DONATED directly to SierraRios.org to aid in their efforts to keep the Marañón flowing. However, if you can not afford the fee or do not wish to pay it please email us at slmorriso@gmail.com and we will send you a password to access it for FREE.
