Upper Taos Box section of the Rio Grande River
When the snow starts melting, I get a little nutty waiting for something to start flowing. Thankfully early in the season, New Mexico heats up and the Upper Taos Box section of the Rio Grande River starts filling up. This year it happened earlier than normal and we caught good flows before the farmers got it 🙂
If you know the run, it’s heaps of laughs. A short drive from Durango, a short shuttle, easy hike down to the put in, and a mile long 1000ft hike out and up to your campground and cold beers. It’s a classic 🙂
